This past Monday, my city had the first of two scheduled furlough days for this fiscal year, an attempt to save some cash in a horrifyingly bad fiscal year.  I feel for the employees that are losing a day's pay (though I'm still trying to wrap my head around someone losing $200-$300 for missing one day of work.  Personally, I wouldn't lose quite ( Read more... )

When working for a small non-profit, you frequently feel like you're beating your head against a wall.  One event is a big hit, the next one flops.  We finally finish repairing one porch, a giant hole develops in a different porch.

The big office move is approaching very quickly.  Last I had heard, we wouldn't be getting the new furniture (!) until after Jan. 24.  So I just assumed that we probably would get it a few days after that.  Because when stuff is free, how often does it show up early?
